World Down Syndrome Day
21st Mar 2024
Today in school we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day! We wore odd socks to celebrate differences. The pupils welcomed the Houston Family to assembly where they helped correct some myths about Down Syndrome by sharing a fun home-made video. The girls in the family were very busy, and made a special loomband bracelet for all staff and pupils, using blue and yellow colours representing WDSD. In class, pupils enjoyed a story related to Down Syndrome before colouring in a pair of socks for a very competitive colouring competition. Fun Fact! People with Down Syndrome have 3 copies of the 21st chromosone while most people have two. Therefore 21/3 is the perfect day every year to celebrate!
